GED in Michigan

Michigan has embraced the new computer-formatted GED® exam for measuring its residents’ high school equivalency, and you can locate hundreds of locations all through the state where GED prep classes are organized.

These prep classes will assist you in becoming all set to successfully sit for the new GED exam. Check also our article about signing up for your GED exam at the portal MyGED.

Online fraud

There is NO online GED testing, you must go to a Michigan testing site in person. If you come across a website that tells you something else, you can be sure you deal with fraud. In January 2016, the GED passing score for each subject test was lowered to 145 (down from 150) on a scale that goes from 100 to 200. Learn more here. The four GED subtests are on Science, Math, Social Studies, and Literacy.

Ticket to higher education

After completion of the GED exam, you will be awarded the GED diploma which is nationwide regarded as equivalent to a high school diploma by all employers, recruiters, government agencies, colleges, and universities. The GED credential will have a positive impact on people’s lives and listed on this post are all facilities in major Michigan areas where you can find GED classes for proper preparation.

GED – who qualifies

Not everybody can sign up for the GED program. If you already have a high school diploma or if you are registered for another school program, you will not be allowed to take the GED exam. You need to be at least 18 years old, though 16/7 year old’s may qualify if they meet specific requirements.

How to start

When you feel you are ready to go the GED path, remember these guidelines and get ahead: Get in touch with a GED preparation site closest to you and find out if you qualify to take the GED exam. If you do so, check testing dates and eventual fees as they may vary. Check all requirements and regulations at your local GED test center, and become perfectly prepared to take the GED exam.

Community bookstores and libraries can also supply all kinds of materials, and there are many locations near you where GED preparation classes are offered, mostly at no cost at all. Another good alternative is offered through online prep courses. So show up at the exam prepared, pass the exam, and get your GED test diploma.

GED registration

In fact, the new GED program is more than just a series of four tests. Go to GED.com and you can create your own account with MyGED, an online portal to prepare and study for the GED exam, and here you can sign up and schedule your appointments to sit for the exam. It also allows you to see your test results and the program provides you with a lot of information about jobs options and college education. MyGED is highly flexible, convenient, and gives you the support you will need to pass the GED exam and hands you the tools to take control of your life and future.

What is new

The GED exam was revamped to make sure that it measures what colleges and employers expect of candidates, and the four content areas are: Reasoning Through Language Arts (2 hours, 35 minutes), Mathematical Reasoning (2 hours, 15 minutes), Science (1 hour, 30 minutes), and Social Studies (1 hour, 10 minutes). The exam is entirely computer-based and offered in English and Spanish. You have the option to take one module (subtest) at a time within a 2-year time frame.
