GED Classes Detroit, Michigan

Posted here are all GED® prep class sites and testing locations in the Detroit area.

Michigan offers multiple options for high school equivalency (HSE) testing, the GED, HiSET, and TASC.

HSE testing offers people who never finished high school one more shot at obtaining an equivalent degree.

All three tests measure proficiency at levels that compare to those of graduating high school seniors.

The GED has four subtests in Literacy, Science, Social Studies, and Math that you must deal with in maximally two years.

HiSET and TASC come with individual reading and writing tests (so five overall) that are offered separately, too.

Should we add a prep site? Are perhaps any adjustments needed? We welcome your contributions. Please inform us here. Thank you.

Online HSE testing is NOT possible and online-obtained documents have no value whatsoever.

GED Essay Topics/Prompts

What is the GED exam?

The GED exam contains four individual tests that, when taken successfully, earn students the Michigan High School Equivalency diploma. This credential is recognized as equivalent to a high school diploma and will lead to improved employment options, open doors to colleges and universities, and result in better lives for graduates. Michigan also offers the TASC and HiSET for this purpose.

For admission criteria visit GED Michigan testing requirements and you may also want to see also this post that has links to all US GED prep programs and test centers. The GED diploma will definitely lead to better (paying) employment and opens the doors of institutions of higher education.

Online GED, TASC, or HiSET testing is NOT possible. Testing must be done in person at one of Michigan’s designated testing sites. Two years after the introduction of the latest version of the GED test, GED Testing Service (GTS) reduced the minimally required score on each GED test to 145 because it was demonstrated that the initial passing score of 150 on all four modules was set too ambitious in comparison to what high school graduates must know. The HiSET ens TASC exams have their own individual scoring methods.

One GED test at a time

A student can take the four GED subtests one by one and scores count for two years from your first registration. The four tests must be done on a computer and are in the academic subject fields of Science, English Language Arts, Social Studies, and Math.

A successful applicant has demonstrated to command skills and knowledge at the same level as a high school grad. Many adults can learn at one of GED preparatory centers or use an online prep program to take the four individual subtests with success at an official testing center. The TASC and HiSET subtests may. if wished, also be taken individually.

Help is offered as well on this website as we provide free tutoring with video classes and practice tests. It is our main mission is that you all will pass the GED test in less than a year. You may also want to visit regional workforce development events and education or job fairs to learn all about opportunities and view a school board for more options to get ahead in life starting today! Donate also some time and follow our news pages so you will stay on top of what’s going on. You may also call a major prep or testing center if you have any questions regarding education or business opportunities.

GED registration

Registration and test scheduling are done at MyGED, the online portal of the GED organization’s website GED.com. The GED diploma leads to better job options and allows for a college education. People without a high school diploma can obtain the State of Michigan GED Diploma by successfully completing the four GED tests.

*) Southgate Adult Education

Southgate Adult Education offers GED prep classes to students at least 18 years of age who are not currently signed up for a school program (16/17 yr old’s must have proper documentation, see the school). Beware that valid IDs are required, and GED certificates will not be issued until test-takers are 18 years old, AND their classes at high school have graduated (Michigan Youth Challenge participants may be 16).

The GED exam costs $120 for the set of four tests (per module: $30), and registration is done online at GED.com. You are required to create your account at MyGED, and you will need a valid email address (if you don’t have one you can create one right there), and a debit or credit card.

GED prep classes are developed to support students who need to be refreshed to get ready for the GED exam. You can take just one test if you wish. Just prepare for that part and schedule a test when you feel ready for that part. Scores will be valid for two years. The school advises students to prepare for the four tests (math, science, literacy, and social studies), by attending classes twice a week. If you need more information, please contact the school: 734-246-4633.
