The GED Subtests
There are four GED modules (independent subtests) assessing a candidate’s academic proficiency in
- Math
- Science
- English Language Literacy
- Social Studies
The four tests may be taken separately and in any order. There’s no need to sit for the complete GED battery in one session.
All across North America, the GED diploma is accepted in the same way as a common high school degree by institutions of higher education and employers.
Testing takes place at a level that compares to what high school seniors must command upon graduation.

Online GED Test
Until a few years ago, you never had the option to take the GED exam online. If you were looking to get a Minnesota GED diploma, you were required to appear, in person, at an official GED testing facility to take the four GED subtests.
All of this changed with the introduction of the online GED test option. If you want to learn more, go to ‘Introducing the online GED test.’
You only qualify for online GED testing if you have achieved passing scores (in the ‘green’ range) on the GED Ready test, the official practice test from GED Testing Service.
Each GED subtest has a GED Ready test, so that’s four of these tests, which will add $32 to your overall testing cost, as each GED Ready test costs $7.99 on the GED.com website.
If you learn for your GED eam with an Advantage Plan from Onsego, you will get four GED Ready Vouchers for free. That’s included in the plans, a fantastic $32 bonus.
There is already an Onsego Advantage Plan for $79: the 6-month full-access option. All Advantage Plans include full access to the entire GED curriculum, 4 GED Ready Vouchers, and many more bonuses.
