Listed in this post are all GED classes and test centers in the Waukegan area. Illinois uses two options for high school equivalency testing: the HiSET and GED exams.
Both exams are offered online and at certified testing facilities. Check below for more details about online GED and HiSET testing.
Online GED Classes
A simple and easy way of getting your GED diploma.
The exams offer people who never graduated high school the opportunity to obtain an equivalent credential.
Testing takes place at a level that compares to that of graduating high school students.
The GED has four subtests that assess proficiency in the academic areas of
- Math
- Language
- Science
- Social Studies
You can write these modules separately and in the order you want.

The HiSET exam has individual writing and reading subtests, so five overall, which you can also take separately.
The HiSET exam comes in on-paper and on-computer formats, whereas the GED is done exclusively on a computer.
In Illinois, GED applicants must also take and pass the state’s Constitution exam before they can receive their diplomas. The state of Illinois gives regular high school diplomas to successful GED and HiSET test-takers, and the GED is now offered at no cost.

Online GED and HiSET Exams
Until recently, taking the GED or HiSET exam in an online format was impossible. There was just no high school equivalency test over the Internet. If you were looking to acquire the HSE diploma, your personal appearance at one of Illinois’ state-approved testing sites was required.
Now, that has all changed as both the HiSET and the GED exams have launched online versions. An online proctor will monitor if everything is done in line with strict regulations. To learn more, check out the following articles: introducing the online proctored GED exam, and for more information about the online HiSET test, <- check here.
