Listed in this post are all GED® classes and test centers in the Waukegan area. Illinois using two options for high school equivalency (HSE) testing, the HiSET® and GED exams.
Both exams are offered online and at certified testing facilities. Check below for more details about online GED and HiSET testing.
HSE testing offers people who never graduated high school the opportunity to obtain an equivalent credential.
HSE testing takes place at a level that compares to that of graduating HS students.
The GED has four subtests in the fields of Math, Literacy, Science, and Social Studies that you can be taken separately.
The HiSET exam has individual writing and reading subtests, so overall five, that you can also take separately.
The HiSET exam comes with both on-paper and on-computer formats whereas the GED is done exclusively on a computer.
In Illinois, GED applicants must also take and pass the state’s Constitution exam before they can receive their HSE diploma but, because of the dire circumstances, this requirement was suspended for the rest of the year.
HiSET and GED testing has become much cheaper in Illinois. Learn more here.

Online GED and HiSET tests introduced
Until recently, taking the GED or HiSET exam in an online format was impossible. There was just no high school equivalency test over the internet. If you were looking to acquire your HSE diploma, personal appearance at one of Illinois’ state-approved testing sites was required.
Now, that has all changed as both the HiSET and the GED exam have launched online versions. An online proctor will monitor if everything is done in line with strict regulations. To learn more, check out the following articles: introducing an online proctored GED exam, and online HiSET testing option introduced.
