In this article, we list all GED® prep classes and testing sites in the Tacoma region. Washington State is using the computer-based GED exam for high school equivalency (HSE) testing.
The GED exam is available online and at certified GED test centers.
GED testing gives adults who never graduated high school the chance to earn an equivalent credential.
The GED exam has four subtests that can be taken separately. No requirement to take the entire GED battery in one session.
These subtests, or modules, are in literacy, math, science, and social studies.
It used to be that there was no online GED testing option. You were required to show up at a state-approved testing site and take the four subtests in person.
That has changed now, however, with the arrival of an online GED testing option. For more information, check the bottom of this post.

Introducing an online GED testing option
In earlier days, there never was the option to sit for the four GED modules over the internet. If you were looking to earn your GED diploma in Washington State, you were always required to show up personally at an official, state-recognized GED testing center.
This has changed now, though, with the launch of an online opportunity to take the GED exam. If you qualify for the online GED testing option and decide to do that, you’ll see an online proctor who monitors your testing activities and checks if you do it all in line with the rules. For more detailed information, go to Introducing an online GED testing option.
