Listed on this page are all GED prep class locations and testing sites in the Staten Island area. New York State uses the GED test for the purpose of high school equivalency testing.
The assessment offers persons who never graduated high school the chance to obtain an equivalent degree.
The GED® exam measures knowledge at a level comparable to that of high school students upon graduation.
In the years 2014 through 2021, New York State offered the TASC assessment for its high school equivalency testing program, but that was discontinued by the end of 2021. Earlier TASC passing scores also count for the GED!
The GED exam includes four subtests in Language Arts (Reading, Writing combined), Math, Science, and Social Studies.
The GED exam is given only at official New York State GED test centers. The state is not offering the GED exam in an online format yet.
The diploma that’s awarded upon successful completion of the GED exam opens the door to a college education and will certainly lead to better job options.

Pathways to Graduation-Staten Island (P2G-SI) is a free, full-time program that provides students ages 17-21 across New York City the support to earn a GED and a successful future. by helping them earn their high school equivalency diploma. There are 65 sites across the five boroughs. The P2G-SI programs include the St. George Hub; YouthBuild Impact Organization; the College of Staten Island; Tottenville High School; Neighborhood Opportunity Network (in collaboration with NYC Probation); the School of Cooperative Technical Education (@Concord High School); City Department of Sanitation.
