The HiSET and GED tests give adults who quit high school prematurely the chance to get hold of an equivalent degree.

Both tests measure knowledge at a level that compares to that of graduating high school seniors.

The GED comes with four separate tests (modules) that measure academic proficiency in

• Math
• Science
• Social Studies

You may write these subtests one or more at a time and any preferred order.

The HiSET includes five subject tests as the Language Section comes with separate reading and writing tests. These subtests may, if wished, also be written separately.

The GED is administered exclusively on a computer, while the HiSET is offered in computerized and paper-based versions.

Online GED and HiSET Testing

Test-takers looking to earn their California HSE diploma can now also sit for the GED or HiSET exam in an online format. Until recently, online HiSET or GED testing was no option; it simply was not available. You were required to come to an official, state-designated testing site and sit for the exams in person.
