GED Classes Salinas, California

This page lists all GED® prep sites and testing centers in the Salinas region.

California is using multiple options for high school equivalency (HSE) testing, the HiSET, TASC, and GED.

The HSE program offers persons who couldn’t graduate high school the chance to get hold of an equivalent degree.

The GED is entirely computer-based while the HiSET and TASC are available both on paper and on a computer.

The GED exam has four independent subject tests in the academic fields of Social Studies, Math, Science, and Literacy.

You have the freedom to take the GED subtests (modules) when you’re all set to do so, yet within a window of two years.

HiSET and TASC have five tests because the Literacy part includes separate writing and reading tests.

You can also take the HiSET and TASC subtests separately.

Can I join the army with a GED?

GED and the job market

So, you have finally decided to buckle down and take the GED, HiSET, or TASC exam. In the job market of today, it is almost impossible to even get a job without a high school diploma. Fortunately, when you get your HSE diploma, that is just what you will have. The high school equivalency diploma not only qualifies you for a better job it is also your ticket to higher education.

Most colleges and employers in this day and age consider a GED diploma as a true high school equivalency diploma. Therefore, there are really no grounds for you to feel substandard to your coworkers or classmates. As an added benefit there are numerous scholarships available exclusively to GED diploma holders. Go to GED testing in California to see if you qualify and much more information.

Make sure to get properly prepared. The tests haven’t become any easier. Successfully passing one of the three HSE tests will result in the California High School Equivalency Diploma, a credential that’s nationwide accepted in lieu of a high school degree. Testing centers may decide which HSE exam, or multiple options, they use, so get in touch with your nearest testing site for specifics.

GED practice tips

Preparing for the test is a daunting task in itself. However, there are many GED preparation classes that cover the process from A to Z. The GED exam is a bit different from regular exams that you may remember from high school. It is designed to test your aptitude for the most part. Here are some things to consider that will help with your preparation and learning.

Rather than trying to memorize concepts, it is far better to try and gain a thorough understanding of them. Evaluate the reasons behind problem-solving and make note of the reasons for review. Also, note any incomprehensible or unsolved questions involved in your learning. With practice, you will become more consistent with your methodology. Train your brain; practice regularly for sharper memory and quicker recall.
