GED Classes Orlando, Florida

This post contains a listing of all GED® class locations and testing sites in the Orlando region.

Florida uses the entirely compter-formatted GED exam for the state’s HSE (High School Equivalency) testing program.

The GED program is for adults who never finished high school and gives them the opportunity to earn an equivalent degree.

The GED measures skills and knowledge at a level that compares to that of graduating HS seniors.

There are four independent GED modules (or subtests) in the fields of Social Studies, Literacy, Science, and Math.

You can prepare for and take one (or more) of these modules at a time but completion needs to be achieved within two years.

Florida Free GED Online Classes

Beware of online fraud

Please beware fraudulent websites that tell you that you can get your GED diploma online. This is a waste of your money and time. You cannot take the GED exam over the internet, nor are the ‘diplomas’ issued by these con artists are worth not even one cent. To earn your GED credential you need to show up at an official GED testing center and take the tests (if you wish on at a time) in person.

Holding the GED diploma will certainly lead to better career options and the degree also qualifies for a college education. All across America, the GED diploma is accepted by employers, government agencies, and colleges just like a standard high school diploma.

Is the GED available online?GED Diploma in Florida

The answer is simply NO. Online preparation is fine, but the GED exam is not available online, and if a site presents the GED tests or the GED diploma via the internet, the website is false, you can only sit for the examination face-to-face at an official Florida GED testing center. Take also a look at this page that links to all GED class sites in America.

*) Cooper Memorial Library

Cooper Memorial Library (Clermont) provides pre-GED instruction at no cost. The classes are offered to adults who never finished high school and who would like to earn their GED credential. The classes are offered at the library (2525 Oakley Seaver Drive, Clermont, FL 34711), and are held from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. These pre-GED classes concentrate on teaching fundamental literacy skills (reading and writing) and are meant for individuals who want to develop their knowledge and skills so they can earn a GED diploma. For more information or to register for the program please call 352-253-6183, or visit the library (Reference Desk, 2nd floor).

**) Seminole State College

Seminole State College offers ABE (Adult Basic Education) and GED (General Education Development) classes year-round. Applicants need to be 18 or older. To sign up for these classes, applicants must complete an Adult Education application, make an appointment for an orientation and assessment session for proper study guidance.

Seminole State College also offers GED testing (computer-based) at the school’s Sanford/Lake Mary Campus (room A-107 or D-108). The GED examination contains four tests on the academic areas of math, science, social studies, and literacy, and students who pass each individual test scoring 145 and up (on a 100-200 scale), earn a state-issued Florida High School Diploma.

Registration for GED testing must be done online. Go to the official GED website GED.com and create your account at the portal MyGED. You must have a valid email address and if you don’t, you can make it there. You can take one of the four subtests when you think you are ready for that part, and you only have to pay for that part as well. Scores count for two years from your first registration.

You are required to pay the fee using a debit or credit card. If that’s a problem contact the school for a pre-paid voucher. On testing day, please don’t forget to bring your receipt of payment, a Social Security card, as well as a current Florida photo ID, and show up at least 15 minutes before the test starts.

If you need more information you are welcome to call the school’s Adult Education Office at 407-708-2153.
