GED Classes Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Listed here are all GED® prep sites and testing centers in the Oklahoma City OK region.

Oklahoma offers multiple options for high school equivalency (HSE) testing, the GED, HiSET, and TASC.

The HSE test gives adults who couldn’t graduate high school one more chance to acquire an equivalent degree.

Testing takes place at a similar level as what HS seniors must command upon graduation.

The computerized GED includes four subtests in Literacy, Math, Science, and Social studies that need to be completed within two years.

The TASC and HiSET exams contain separate reading and writing tests, so five overall. These tests can be taken individually, too.

HiSET and TASC are available on-paper and on-computer and are slightly cheaper than the GED.

HSE testing

So Oklahoma residents have three options to earn their Oklahoma State High School Equivalency Diploma, though not all testing centers administer all three options so get well-informed! The GED (General Education Development), TASC (Test Assessing Secondary Completion), and HiSET (High School Equivalency Test). Holding the Oklahoma HSE diploma will definitely improve job options and allows for continued education in college or university.

Two years after the implementation of the latest GED version, GED Testing Service reduced the passing score for each of the four GED tests to 145. Read more in this GED news post. HiSET and TASC have their own scoring systems.  For eligibility criteria go to GED testing requirements in Oklahoma.

One GED test at a time

There’s no need to take the full battery of GED tests (modules) in a row. You can prepare for, schedule, and pay for one of the four tests, or more if you want to. Your scores are valid for two years so you have plenty of time to prepare for and take the remaining tests. This is actually a great improvement compared to the former edition of the GED exam. The TASC and HiSET subtests may also be dealt with separately.

Is the HSE exam offered online? What is a GED Test

Please bear in mind that many fraudulent websites try to sell you the GED tests (or the GED certificate) via the Internet. It is very simple: the GED exam is NOT available online, nor are the TASC and HiSET exams. Websites that state differently, are only after your hard-earned money. As said earlier, you need to appear personally at a state-approved HSE testing facility.

*) Oklahoma City Adult Learning Center

Oklahoma City Public Schools’ Adult Learning Center has teamed up with INTEGRIS Health to provide GED classes and ESL (English as a Second Language) classes for the community, and both are presented in Spanish. Every class is offered in a 100-hour block, two times per year.

The Oklahoma Adult Learning Center will provide the teachers and materials, and INTEGRIS Health is providing the space to accommodate the GED and ESL programs. Due to the increasing part of the populace’s Spanish-speaking population and the rising demand for bilingual employees, INTEGRIS Health is offering Spanish classes to their workers regularly.

These programs, as well as the ESL and GED programs, allow the organization’s employees to provide better service to the Hispanic community. The GED classes are offered at the following locations, and call INTEGRIS for more information: 405-951-2277.

INTEGRIS Southwest Medical Center, Medical Office Building, 4200 S Douglas Ave, Ste. B-10 (Basement),  Oklahoma City, OK 73109
U.S. Grant High School, 5016 S Penn Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73119.

**) Norman Adult Education Center

Norman Adult Education Center provides literacy and English language programs to help adults reach personal goals. The center provides GED preparation classes at several times and days every week.  The GED exam is more challenging than ever before and better compares to the knowledge and skills that high school graduates will have, and employers and colleges need and require.

The totally revamped GED exam will probably require you to dedicate more time to prepare, but the school’s teachers will get you over the hurdles to attain your GED diploma.

When you are 16 or 17 years old and want to get your GED diploma in lieu of a regular high school diploma, the school highly recommends that you first consult with a School Counselor and talk seriously with a responsible adult.

A meeting with one of Norman Adult Learning Center’s staff members will also be required before the school will allow you to partake in GED classes. It is needed that both you and your parents (or guardian) fully understand what the GED program includes. Norman Adult Learning Center provides no longer GED testing. So that’s it about GED prep and testing in the Oklahoma City OK area.
