Online GED Classes

A simple and easy way of getting your GED diploma.

Both exams measure academic proficiency at a level that compares to that of HS students when they graduate.

You can prepare for the exams at a prep site with an instructor, and our free online GED classes and practice tests are also a great way to get started.

If you feel that an online course would be good for you, check out Onsego Online GED Prep, a complete course that is awarded the predicate “Fully GED Test-Aligned” by GED Testing Service®.

The HSE testing program gives adults who never completed high school the chance to acquire an educational credential that is equivalent to a regular HS degree.

GED testing occurs via four separate tests (modules) assessing a candidate’s academic proficiency in:

  • Social Studies
  • Math
  • Science
  • Language

The HiSET has five subtests since the Literacy section contains individual reading and writing tests.

You can complete the four GED modules one at a time, and the HiSET subtests may be taken separately as well.

Online GED and HiSET

The GED and HiSET tests are now available online as well. In the past, to earn your HSE diploma, you had to show up at an official testing center and take the exam in person. That has changed.

For information about the “HiSET-At-Home” option, check out this article: Online HiSET Testing. To be able to take the GED exam online, candidates must first score in the “green zone” of the GED Ready test. You can learn more here: Online Proctored GED Exam.

Who is the GED Exam for?

California’s HSE (High School Equivalency) program is developed for adults who quit high school prematurely. The program offers them a chance to acquire a diploma that is equivalent to a high school diploma.

The GED program was introduced in 1942 and is recognized throughout Canada and the United States. Successfully completing the GED set of four tests will result in California’s high school equivalency credential.

The GED credential is the perfect stepping stone to getting a college education and is widely used for getting a good job and career advancement. Adults with a high school or GED diploma are expected to make around $9,500 more annually than those who do not have the credential.
