GED Classes Fresno, California

This post contains an overview of GED® classes in the Fresno region. Testing sites are also listed.

California not only offers the computer-based GED exam for HSE (high school equivalency) testing.

The state also embraced the TASC and HiSET exams which can be taken on-paper or on-computer.

All three HSE exams measure academic proficiency at a level that compares to that of HS students when they graduate.

The HSE test program gives adults that never completed high school the chance to acquire an equivalent credential.

GED testing occurs via four separate tests (modules) in Social Studies, Math, Science, and Literacy.

You can complete these GED modules in a 2-year window. This counts only for the GED exam!

HiSET and TASC exams have one more test as the Literacy section contains separate reading and writing tests.

Online HSE testing is NOT an option. You must come to an official California testing center and sit for the HSE exam in person.

GED passing score

The GED exam’s passing score was 150 on each subject test, but new insights learned that 145 was more realistic so it was lowered to that level. Now you will need at least 580 points in total to pass. For all details on the revised GED scoring table see our GED News posts. Please note that online GED testing is NOT possible and this also counts for the TASC and HiSET exams. Documents acquired via the internet have no value and will not be acceptable for schools and employers! Visit GED in California for qualification criteria.

Who is the HSE exam for?

The HSE program is developed for adults who dropped out of high school. The program offers them a chance to acquire a diploma that is equivalent to a high school diploma. The GED program was introduced in 1942 and is recognized throughout Canada and the United States, and successfully completing the GED set of four tests will result in a high school equivalency credential. The GED credential is the perfect stepping stone to get a college education and is widely used for getting a good job and career advancement.

GED and your future

The new GED exam (introduced in January 2014) consists of 4 individual tests in the subject fields of mathematics, literacy, science and social studies.
As the exam is done on a computer, candidates must command basic keyboarding and computer skills to be able to answer question included in the exam.

You can find a lot of resources available if you want to sit for the GED exam with the objective to enroll in college or want to get a great career. Check your local bookstore or library for resources, and online learning can be a great option as well.
