The GED exam assesses basic content at the same level that high school students must command upon graduation.

The GED includes four individual tests that assess a candidate’s knowledge level in these subjects:

  • English Language
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Social Studies

These modules (independent sub-exams) may be completed separately and in any order.

The four GED subtests measure competencies and knowledge at a level similar to what HS seniors must command upon graduation.

Online GED Test

Until recently, there was never any option to take the Connecticut GED exam online. Your personal appearance at one of Connecticut’s state-approved testing facilities was required if you were looking to secure your Connecticut high school equivalency diploma.

Now, that has changed with the arrival of a new, online, proctored GED test. An online proctor will help and guide you through the test-taking process. Go to ‘Introducing the online GED test to learn more.

What is the GED?

The GED (General Education Development) exam is a set of four independent tests that are developed for adults who never completed high school. The GED exam offers them a second possibility to earn a comparable credential.

The GED diploma is nationwide regarded as equivalent to a high school degree by governmental organizations, employers, and colleges and universities.

The GED exam comes with four tests on the academic subject fields of Science, Social Studies, Math, and Literacy, and passing the exam will generate far better employment options and allow for further academic education as the GED diploma is seen as equivalent to a high school diploma.

GED Passing Score

The GED scores are calibrated on a scoring scale from 100 to 200. The passing score on each of the four modules is 145. There are four GED scoring ranges:

  • 100-144 is below passing
  • 145-164 is the high school equivalency
  • 165-174 is college-ready
  • 175-200 is college-ready and will additionally result in up to 10 college credits, depending on the school and the subject.
