This page lists all GED® (in Louisiana: HiSET®) prep facilities and testing centers in the Slidell region. Louisiana uses the HiSET for the state’s HSE (high school equivalency) testing program.
The HiSET is for individuals who could not finish high school and offers them the opportunity to earn an equivalent degree.
The HiSET exam includes five subject tests in Math, English Reading, English Writing, Science, and Social Studies.
HiSET testing can be done both paper-based and on a computer and the tests can be taken individually.
Until recently, you needed to come to an official HiSET testing site to sit for the exam in person. There was no online HiSET testing possibility.
But that has now changed with the introduction of an online proctored HiSET testing option. Learn more below.
The diploma that you’ll receive after successfully taking the HiSET exam is across North America accepted in lieu of a high school degree.

Online HiSET testing option introduced
HiSET testing over the internet was, until quite recently, not an option. If you wished to earn your Louisiana high school equivalency credential, you needed to appear, in person, at a state-approved HiSET testing center. Now, the introduction of a new online HiSET testing option (called HiSET-Exam-At-Home) has changed all of that.
So now you can take the five HiSET modules, or subtests, from your own home in an online format. An online proctor will manage your test-taking activities and check if everything happens in accordance with the rules and regulations. Go to ‘New HiSET Online Proctored HiSET Testing Option’ if you want to learn more.
Your future
The HiSET exam measures fundamental matters that students are explained in high school. After completing the five HiSET tests successfully, you will receive the Louisiana High School Equivalency Diploma. To see if you qualify, go to Louisiana HiSET Testing.
GED Essay WritingIn Louisiana, we still can find some 600,000 adults who did not finish high school, and the HiSET is a perfect way for them to catch up. State officials said they changed to a new provider because they didn’t want to offer computer-based testing only. They were afraid a lot of potential candidates would be put off if they had to do a computer test.
