The GED is fully computer-based, whereas the HiSET exam is available on paper and on a computer. The exams are for adults who could not complete high school and provide one more chance to earn an equivalent degree.

The level at which the exams measure proficiency and competencies compares to that of graduating high school students.

The GED consists of four modules that can be written separately. The subtests assess a student’s proficiency in these academic subject areas:

Online HiSET and GED Testing

Taking the HiSET or GED exam online was, until recently, not possible. It just didn’t exist. If you wished to get hold of your GED, you had to come, in person, to one of California’s official testing centers.
