GED Classes Rome, Georgia

Last Updated on April 10, 2024.

Listed on this page is an overview of all GED and HiSET preparatory class locations and testing sites in the Rome area. Georgia uses two options for its High School Equivalency testing program: the GED and HiSET exams.

The GED exam must be completed entirely on a computer, whereas the HiSET can be taken on a computer or on paper.

Both the GED® and HiSET® exams can be taken online and at Georgia’s state-approved test facilities. The GED program is geared towards people who did not complete high school, and it offers them the chance to earn an equivalent degree.

The GED and HiSET exams measure your academic proficiency at a level that compares to that of high school grads.

There are four individual GED subtests measuring a candidate’s knowledge of

  • Math (Mathematical Reasoning)
  • Social Studies
  • Literacy (Reasoning through Language Arts)
  • Science

HiSET testing comes with separate writing and reading subtests, so five in total.

You have the option to sit for the four GED or five HiSET subtests (modules) one or more at a time.

Until recently, there was never an online GED or HiSET testing possibility. You needed to show up at one of Georgia’s official HSE testing sites and sit for the tests in person.

With the arrival of new online proctored GED and HiSET test-taking options, though, that has all changed! Read more below.

GED Online Testing

In the past, to take the GED or HiSET test, you had to appear at a state-designated HSE (High School Equivalency) testing site. Online testing was just not offered. But recently, online GED and HiSET test-taking options were introduced, so that has all changed.

Students who take the online GED or HiSET testing option will be coupled with an online proctor who helps them through the entire process and checks if all is done in line with the regulations.

Visit this article: ‘The online GED test’ to learn more about the online GED test and to get more information about the recently introduced “HiSET-At-Home” test, <- go to this page.
