The GED exam assesses basic knowledge at the level that compares to what high schoolers must command upon graduation.

There are four GED subtests that measure a student’s proficiency level in these academic fields:

  • English Language Arts (writing and reading together)
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Social Studies

This website offers GED free online classes, so you can see at no cost if an online study course works for you. If so, we recommend you continue your GED preparation with Onsego GED Prep, an award-winning, affordable online course.

However, some students do better if they learn under the guidance of a teacher at one of the facilities listed on this page.

Introducing the Online GED Exam

It is now possible to sit for the GED exam over the Internet. Until recently, test-takers were required to come to one of Alabama’s official GED testing centers if they were looking to acquire their high school equivalency diploma.

Now, fortunately, that changed with the arrival of the online proctored GED testing format. More details can be found here -> Introducing the online GED test.
