Four Modular GED Subtests

The computerized GED includes four separate subtests (independent modules) that measure a student’s knowledge of:

  • English Language Literacy
  • Math
  • Science
  • Social Studies

These sub-exams may be completed separately and in your desired order.

The HiSET exam consists of separate reading and writing tests, totaling five. These tests can also be taken individually.

HiSET testing can be done on paper or a computer, whereas the GED is entirely computer-based.

GED and HiSET testing takes place at a level similar to what high schoolers must command upon graduation.

Online GED and HiSET Testing

It used to be that students looking to earn their high school equivalency (HSE) diplomas were always required to show up in person at an official Oklahoma HSE testing facility. There was never the option to deal with one of the exams online.

But this has all changed as we witnessed the introduction of online proctored HiSET and GED testing options.

To read all about this new online HiSET testing format, visit this page: ‘Introducing the online HiSET exam,’ and if you want to read more about the GED online proctored test, check out this page: ‘Welcoming the online GED test.’

If you’re looking to take the online GED test, you must first pass the official practice test. GED Ready. This test is available on GED.com for $7.99.

For are four GED Ready tests to pass, one for each GED subject test, making it four in total. That will cost you $32 in addition to the GED testing fees.

Students studying with an Onsego’s Advantage Plan don’t have to buy the GED Ready tests, as Advantage Plans include four GED Ready vouchers for free, a nice $32 bonus!

Should we include or delist a site? Are updates or adjustments required? Please advise us here.
