Posted here are all HiSET and GED prep class locations and test facilities in the Nashville area. In Tennessee, you’ll need to pass the GED or HiSET exam to earn your high school equivalency diploma.
Both tests are offered online and at state-certified high school equivalency test centers.
Online GED Classes
A simple and easy way of getting your GED diploma
Pass your GED this fall
The HiSET exam, like the GED®, provides individuals who did not graduate from high school an additional opportunity to earn an equivalent diploma.
Some HiSET or GED students perform better when guided by a teacher at one of the physical prep sites listed in this post. Others may do well with an accredited online course.
This website offers free practice tests and online GED classes to help you get started and determine if online learning is a good fit for you.

If so, we recommend you continue with the online program designed by Onsego GED Prep, an affordable program designated as “fully GED-compatible” by GED Testing Service.
In the past, there was never a way to deal with the GED or HiSET exam online. The launch of Online Proctored GED and HiSET exams has changed that. More details are found at the bottom of this page.

What’s on the HiSET and GED tests
The HiSET (High School Equivalency Test) comes with five modular subtests that measure skills and knowledge in the following subject fields:
- English Language Writing
- English Language Reading
- Science
- Social Studies
- Mathematics
The GED exam includes four sub-exams because the Language Writing and Language Reading portions were merged into one Language Arts test.
Testing occurs at a similar level to what high school seniors must know upon graduation. You can sit for the GED and HiSET modules in any preferred order and one at a time if you wish.
HiSET testing is available in both paper and computer-based formats, whereas the GED exam is offered exclusively in a computer-based format.

The Online HiSET and GED Tests
In earlier days, there was no option to take the Tennessee HiSET or GED exam online. You always had to show up in person at one of the state’s official HSE test centers.
Some years ago, however, we saw the launch of online options that allow you to take the five HiSET or four GED modules from the comfort of your own home.
To learn more about the HiSET-Exam-At-Home option, visit Launching the HiSET-Exam-At-Home. More information about online GED testing can be found in this post: The Online GED Test.
If you are looking to take the GED test online, note that, to qualify, you are required first to attain sufficient results on the GED Ready test. All four GED subtests require you to first pass a GED Ready test, so that’s four in total, totaling $32, as each GED Ready test is $7.99.
If you are registered with an Onsego Advantage Plan, you won’t need to buy GED Ready tests. Onsego’s Advantage Plans already include vouchers for four GED Ready tests, a fantastic $32 bonus, wouldn’t you agree?
Should we include or delist a location? Should we make any adjustments? Please advise us here.
