The HiSET®, like the GED®, provides adults who couldn’t graduate from high school with one more shot at earning an equivalent credential.

The exam comes with five tests in literacy reading, literacy writing, math, science, and social studies.

The HiSET is available in both paper-based and computerized formats.

In the past, HiSET testing could not be done online. You were required to come to a state-approved testing site and take the five subtests in person.

The recent launch of an online HiSET testing option, though, has changed all of that. Learn more below at the bottom of this post.

In earlier days, the HiSET was not available in an online format. You had to appear in person at one of Tennessee’s state-approved official HiSET testing centers.
