GED Classes Memphis Tennessee

This article lists all GED and HiSET prep classes and test centers in the Memphis area. Tennessee uses two options for its high school equivalency testing program: the GED and HiSET exams.

HiSET and GED testing can be done online or at one of Tennessee’s designated test centers.

The assessments give adults who haven’t finished high school another chance to earn an equivalent credential.

Some GED or HiSET students do better when guided by an instructor at one of the prep sites listed below. Others do very well when using a good online course.

This website offers free practice tests and GED online classes to help you determine whether studying with an online course is right for you.

If it does, we advise you to continue with Onsego Online GED Prep, an engaging, accredited online GED program. Since the HiSET and GED contents are quite similar, you may very well study with this course to get all set for the HiSET exam.

The HiSET exam includes five independent, modular sub-exams that measure knowledge in these subject areas:

• English Language Writing
• English Language Reading
• Math
• Science
• Social Studies

On the GED exam, the writing and reading portions were combined, resulting in one Language Arts sub-exam, so there are four GED subtests.

HiSET testing can be done on a computer or in a paper-and-pencil format, while the GED can be taken on a computer only.

It used to be that the GED or HiSET exam could not be taken online. You needed to come to an official HSE testing center and sit for the exams personally.

Now, that has changed with the launch of online proctored GED and HiSET exams. More information is below at the bottom of this post.

Introducing the Online GED and HiSET Tests

In earlier days, you could not sit for the GED or HiSET exam via the Internet. You had to report in person to one of Tennessee’s state-recognized HSE testing centers.
