This page contains a full listing of GED classes and testing sites in the greater Las Cruces region. New Mexico uses the GED exam for its high school equivalency testing program.
Additionally, the state welcomed the HiSET exam for this purpose. Both options can be taken online and at certified test facilities.

It doesn’t matter when you left school.
The exams give adults who don’t have a high school diploma the chance to earn an equivalent credential.
The GED test includes four separate subtests (modules) that measure a student’s knowledge level of these subjects:
- English Language Literacy
- Science
- Math
- Social Studies
You may complete these modules separately and in any desired order.
The HiSET includes individual language reading and language writing tests, so five overall, that can be taken separately as well.
Online GED Classes
A simple and easy way of getting your GED diploma.
In the past, HiSET or GED testing over the Internet was never possible. You had to come to a state-approved New Mexico test center and sit for the tests in person.
Recently, though, there have been some interesting developments with the launch of GED and HiSET online proctored exams. Read more below.
New Mexico requires test-takers no longer to complete the GED or HiSET exam within a 3-year time frame.
Visit “The GED Exam In New Mexico” to read more about qualification criteria, New Mexico testing fees, or GED and HiSET passing scores.

Online GED and HiSET Tests
Sitting for the HiSET and GED tests over the Internet was, until recently, not possible. HSE testing was simply not offered online. But now, we’ve seen some interesting new developments with the introduction of online HiSET and GED testing. So, all of that has now changed.
You must have a reliable Internet connection, and an online proctor will see if everything is done in line with some pretty strict regulations. To learn more about the online HiSET-At-Home exam, visit ‘Online HiSET testing introduced,’ and to learn all about the newly launched GED online test, check out ‘Introducing online GED testing.’

Four Independent GED Subtests
There’s no need to take the entire GED battery in one session. You can take the four tests one at a time. The GED credential allows people to further their academic education and advance in the employment market. The GED passing score on each subtest is 145 out of 200 points. Your scores are calibrated on a scale from 100 to 200.
- 100-144 = Below Passing Range
- 145-164 = High School Equivalent Range
- 165-174 = College-Ready Range
- 175-200 = College-Ready + Credits Range
The HiSET exam has five independent subtests. Here, the Language portion is divided into individual reading and writing tests. On each of the five HiSET modules, you must reach an 8-score (on a 1-20 scale), and your overall score must be at least 45. Additionally, your essay must have at least a 2 (out of 6) score.
