The Texas HSE program offers adults who have not completed high school the chance to earn an equivalent degree.

The GED test consists of four separate subtests (modules) in Literacy, Social Studies, Science, and Math.

You may prepare for, and take, one (or more) of the four GED modules at a time and the exam is available in English and Spanish.

In the past, online GED testing was never possible. Your personal appearance at an official GED test site was required.

Recently, however, that has changed with the launch of the online proctored GED exam. More information is found below at the bottom of this page.

Introducing the online GED exam

In the past, the GED test could only be taken in person at one of Texas’ official, state-approved high school equivalency (HSE) testing locations. Online GED testing was not an option, but this has now changed as we saw the launch of an online GED testing option.

More information about the recently introduced online proctored GED exam is found here: Introducing an online proctored option for GED testing.
