This page lists all GED classes and testing centers in the Laredo region. Texas is using the GED exam for high school equivalency testing.
The GED test is given at state-certified test centers or in an online format for qualifying testers.
Online GED Classes
A simple and easy way of getting your GED diploma.
The GED test gives persons who left high school prematurely another opportunity to earn an equivalent degree.
The exam has four individual subtests that cover these subject areas:
- English Language Arts
- Social Studies
- Science
- Mathematics
You can write these four modules one at a time if you wish. They don’t need to be taken in one session.
GED testing is entirely computer-based, and the four subtests can be taken in English or Spanish.

The GED exam is administered at a level comparable to what HS students must know when they graduate.
It used to be that there was no GED testing offered over the Internet. Testing had to be done at official Texas testing sites.
This, however, has now changed with the launch of the GED online proctored testing option. Learn more below at the bottom of this post.

Welcoming Online Proctored GED Testing
In the past, the GED exam always had to be taken in person at one of Texas’ state-approved HSE (high school equivalency) test locations. There simply was never an online HSE test. Recently, however, this has changed as we witnessed the launch of the online proctored GED test.
To learn more about this new online proctored GED test-taking option, see this page: The online proctored GED test.
