Listed in this article are all GED and HiSET class locations and testing sites in the Lake Charles area. Louisiana is offering both the HiSET and GED exams for its high school equivalency testing program.

The exams give people who did not graduate from high school the opportunity to earn an equivalent degree.

The HiSET exam is offered both in a computer-based model and in a paper-and-pencil format, while the GED is fully computer-based.

The HiSET, like the GED, assesses knowledge at a level that may be expected of high school seniors upon graduation.

The HiSET exam contains five subtests in the fields of

• Language Writing
• Language Reading
• Social Studies
• Math
• Science

The GED has combined the writing and reading portions into one Reasoning through Language Arts sub-exams, so, in total, there are four GED sub-exams.

Until recently, to earn your high school equivalency diploma, you needed to show up in person at a state-approved GED or HiSET testing center.

Now, however, we’ve witnessed the introduction of online HiSET and GED testing options, so that has changed. Read more below.

The Educational Resource Center is located between J.C. Penney’s Catalog Entrance and the Cinemark Theater. This is NOT a GED program, but  Simon Youth Academies, primarily located in Simon Malls, help students, in partnership with local school districts, who are at risk of quitting high school prematurely or who need personalized support to earn their diplomas. Simon Youth Academy offers learning support for students who struggle in traditional classrooms or schools because of serious illness, bullying, homelessness, parenthood, supporting families, or other personal circumstances.

HiSET and GED Online Tests

HiSET or GED testing was, until recently, not offered over the Internet. If you wanted to get hold of a Louisiana high school equivalency credential, you needed to come personally to an official Louisiana HSE testing center. But now, all of this has changed as GED and HiSET online testing options were introduced: the HiSET-At-Home and the OP (Online Proctored GED Exam.

So now you can take the five HiSET or four GED modules (one or more at a time if you wish) from your home, utilizing a new online format where a proctor will see if your test-taking efforts occur in line with strict regulations.
