Listed here are all GED and HiSET prep classes and test centers in the Indianapolis area. Indiana uses both the GED and HiSET for its high school equivalency (HSE) testing program.

The HiSET exam consists of five sub-exams that can be taken in any order and, if wished, one or more at a time.

The HiSET® exam, like the GED®, is for adults who did not complete high school, and this way, they can earn an equivalent credential.

You may well prepare for the exams under the guidance of an instructor at one of the locations listed below, or you can register with an accredited online program such as the GED course designed by Onsego GED Prep.

The sub-exams assess a candidate’s academic proficiency in these subjects:

• Language Reading
• Language Writing
• Math
• Science, including Chemistry, Scientific Method, and Physics
• Social Studies, including  U.S. and World History and Geography

The GED exam has combined the writing and reading sections into one English Language Arts exam, so there are four GED subtests.

The HiSET exam can be taken on paper and on a computer, while the GED  is offered in a computerized format only.

There is also an online GED or HiSET testing option, the Online Proctored (OP) GED test, or the HiSET-At-Home option. So, you can come to a state-designated testing facility and write the tests in person or, if you qualify, online.

Excel Center Meadows

This is NOT a GED but a high school diploma program. The Excel Center is a charter school created to support students who left high school prematurely. The center provides life coach services, intense counseling, and classes where these young adults can earn their high school diplomas.

The Indianapolis Goodwill Excel Centers were launched in 2010 and have been expanding into a network today of more than 10 Excel Centers throughout the greater Indianapolis metropolitan area. Since its inception, over a thousand students have earned their high school equivalency diploma through the Goodwill charter schools, and now, most have decent-paying jobs. Great work!
