The exams allow people who never graduated high school to earn an equivalent education degree.

Testing takes place at a level that compares to that of graduating high school students.

The HiSET exam consists of five modular, independent subtests covering the fields of

  • English Reading
  • English Writing
  • Science
  • Math
  • Social Studies

On the GED test, the reading and writing sections were combined to create one Language Arts subtest.

Launching the Online HiSET and GED Tests

In the past, there never was an option to take the five HiSET or four GED modules online. Recently, however, we’ve witnessed a great development with the launch of an online option, the ‘HiSET-At-Home’ exam, and the OP (Online Proctored( GED test.

When you take the online GED or HiSET exam, a proctor supports you in the process and checks whether everything occurs correctly. To learn all about this development, visit this page: Launching the online HiSET test. For information about the online GED test, <- check here.
