The exam offers adults who never finished high school one more shot at acquiring a diploma that’s recognized in the same way as a regular HS degree.
The GED comes with four separate subtests that measure a candidate’s academic proficiency in
- English Language
- Math
- Science
- Social Studies
You have the option to take one (or more) of the four GED modules (subtests) at a time.
The GED exam measures knowledge at a level that’s similar to that of high school graduates.

In the past, testing was exclusively done at official Nebraska test centers. Online GED testing was, until recently, not available.
But now, we’ve seen the launch of an online proctored GED test-taking option. For more information, check the bottom of this page.
The GED is a pretty challenging exam. Some forty percent of HS graduates would not be able to pass the exam on the first attempt.

Launching the Online Proctored GED Test
In the past, taking the four GED subtests was never possible over the Internet. To earn your Nebraska GED diploma, you personally had to report to one of Nebraska’s official GED test centers and pass the four GED modules.
Recently, though, we witnessed the launch of a new online proctored option to sit for the GED exam. So, all of that has now changed. To learn more about this fantastic development, visit ‘The Introduction of the Online GED Test.’
Your Future
The GED program is far more than only a set of four tests. Go to GED.com to become fully informed and sign up at MyGED, your online portal for registration, studying, scheduling your tests, checking your scores, and learning about job market developments and college programs.
Holding the GED diploma will definitely lead to better jobs with decent earnings, and the degree also opens the door to a college education. Two years after the new GED implementation, the GED passing score was lowered from 150 points to 145 on each of the four subtests.
The state of Nebraska requires that candidates be 18 years old. If 16 or 17-year-olds want to take the GED exam, they must meet strict requirements and provide specific documentation.
These candidates must contact a local test center to determine the requirements for their specific location. Furthermore, GED test-takers cannot be holders of a high school degree, and they can also not be registered for any other school course.
