GED Classes Corona, California

On this page, you can find all GED® prep facilities and testing locations in the Corona region. California is using two options for High School Equivalency (HSE) testing, the GED and HiSET® exams.

The four GED subtests can be taken online or at an official HSE test center. The HiSET exam is available in an online format as well. Read more below.

The HSE test gives persons who did not graduate high school one more option to obtain an equivalent degree.

The GED has four independent subtests (modules) in Math, Science, Social Studies, and Literacy that may be completed one at a time.

The HiSET exam includes five tests (separate reading and writing tests) that can also be taken separately.

The GED exam is fully computer-based whereas the HiSET exam can be taken both on a computer and on paper.

Online GED and HiSET testing

The GED and HiSET exams are now also available in a proctored, online version. For online GED testing, the requirement is that test-takers score “green” on the GED Ready® test. For more information, check out this article.

If you wish to learn more about the HiSET-At-Home online option, check out this post about the Online Proctored HiSET Exam.

The GED – For who is it?

The  GED (General Education Development) exam is intended for grownups who never finished high school, and who want to take a second shot at getting a comparable diploma. The certificate that you will receive once you successfully completed the California GED test is accepted all over the country as equivalent to a high school diploma by state and federal official institutions, business employers, and colleges.

HiSET and GED

The GED exam, like the HiSET, checks fundamental competencies that students learn in high school, and the subjects addressed in GED preparation classes include math, science, language arts (writing and reading), and social studies.

The HiSET exam is somewhat cheaper than the GED and offers the tests in both paper and computer formats whereas the GED set of four tests is only available on a computer. The HiSET exam includes five testing fields as the language section is separated into two individual writing and reading subtests.
