The GED (General Education Development) exam has four separate subtests (modules) in

  • Language
  • Math
  • Science
  • Social Studies

The four GED subtests are entirely computer-based modules that can be taken one at a time and in any order.

GED testing takes place at a level that compares to that of graduating high school students.

It used to be that the GED subtests could be taken at official Idaho GED test centers only. There was no online option, but that has now changed with the arrival of a new, online, proctored GED test-taking option. Read more below.

Introducing the Online GED Exam

Sitting for the four GED subtests was, until recently, only possible at state-designated test centers. The GED exam was simply not offered via the Internet. To earn an Idaho GED diploma, your personal appearance at an official GED testing site was required.

But now, with the introduction of a new online GED testing format, that has all changed. If you take the GED exam online, an online proctor will guide you through the test-taking process and see if you do everything correctly. Visit this article for more detailed information: ‘Online GED Test Introduced.’
