What’s on the GED Test

GED testing occurs via four subtests that measure knowledge and skills in these subjects:

• Math
• Science
• Language Writing and Reading
• Social Studies

The GED test measures knowledge at a level similar to what may be expected of graduating high school seniors.

You can take the four GED subtests one at a time and in any desired order.

GED Scoring

The four GED modules are scored on a 100 to 200 scale, where 145 is the passing score.

• Scores in the 145-164 range indicate high school equivalent results
• Scores in the 165-174 range indicate college-readiness
• Scores in the 275-200 range additionally result in up to 10 college credits

The Online GED Test

West Virginia does NOT offer the online GED exam. Perhaps you can take the exam online in a state without residency requirements.

If you do, an online proctor will monitor your activities and check if you do it all according to the rules.

To qualify for online GED testing, you are required to first attain satisfactory results on the GED Ready practice test.

You must pass, in total, four of these practice tests, one per GED subtest. This will cost you $32 (each GED Ready test is $7.99), in addition to the regular testing fees.
