Online GED Classes

A simple and easy way of getting your GED diploma.

Learn fast, stay motivated, and pass your GED quickly.

In past years, the state used the TASC exam for that purpose, but that exam was discontinued by the end of 2021.

Like the GED®, the HiSET® exam gives people who never graduated from high school an extra option to earn an equivalent degree.

The HiSET has five subtests in the fields of

  • English Reading
  • English Writing
  • Math
  • Science
  • Social Studies

The GED exam includes four modular sub-exams as the Writing and Reading sections were merged into one Language Arts sub-exam.

West Virginia takes up the tab for its residents’ High School Equivalency testing, and in West Virginia, only computerized testing is available.

HiSET Scoring

The five HiSET modules are scored on a 0 to 20 scale. You need to attain at least 8 points on EACH of the sub-exams, and your total score must be at least 45 points. Additionally, your essay must have a 2-point score. Averaging is not possible, so you need to attain a passing score (8 points) on each of the five HiSET subtests that may be taken one at a time.

GED Scoring

Your GED scores are measured on a 100 to 200 scale and the passing score on each subtest is 145. Averaging is no option. Scores in the 145-164 category indicate high school equivalent results, scores in the 165-174 category are college-ready results, and if you attain results in the 175-200 category, you’ll also receive college credits.
