Your Future
The four GED (General Educational Development) tests offer South Dakota residents the chance to acquire a high school equivalency credential.
This document is recognized as an essential instrument for better employment opportunities, job advancement, continued academic education and training, and financial success.
The South Dakota Department of Labor and Regulation acknowledges the value of this educational milestone and offers the GED program to support those adults who have not completed their four years of high school education.
In South Dakota, each of the four GED tests costs $50 (so $200 for the entire battery), which you need to pay for at the time of registration.
This applies to both online and on-site testing. You can take and pay for one of the four subtests at a time. Candidates are required to score at least 145 points (out of a possible 200) on each of the four GED subtests to pass the GED exam.
Online Proctored GED Test
In the past, GED testing online was not an option. You had to come in person to one of South Dakota’s state-designated GED test centers to receive your GED diploma.
Well, with the arrival of the online proctored GED test, that changed some years back. To learn more, go to the online proctored GED exam.
To be able to take the exam online, you must have achieved passing results (‘green’ scores) on the GED Ready test from GED Testing Service.
Each GED subtest requires you to pass a GED Ready test first, so that’s four practice tests that cost $7.99 each on the GED.com website, for a total of $32.
Onsego students with an Advantage Plan don’t need to buy these tests. Their plans include four GED Ready Vouchers at no additional charge, a fine $32 bonus.
There is already an Onsego Advantage Plan for $79 (the 6-month option). All Advantage Plans include unrestricted access to all study materials from day 1, lots of extras, and the four free GED Ready Vouchers.
