This article posts all GED prep locations and testing sites in the Yonkers region. New York is using the GED test for the state’s high school equivalency testing program.
The exam gives persons who didn’t graduate from high school an extra chance to acquire an equivalent degree.
In the period from 2014 through 2021, New York State was using the TASC assessment for high school equivalency (HSE) testing, but this was discontinued at the end of 2021. Your TASC passing scores are also good for the GED test!
The GED (General Education Development) exam includes four sub-exams that cover these subject fields:

It doesn’t matter when you left school.
- Language Arts (writing and reading combined)
- Math
- Science
- Social studies
The four GED subtests are entirely computer-based. There is no paper-based GED testing option, but you can take the four tests one at a time if you want.
In New York State, GED testing is free for state residents. The state picks up the tab for its residents as one of only four states.
This website makes your GED prep easier with free online GED classes that let you determine if an online course works for you. If so, we suggest you continue with Onsego GED Prep, an affordable online course that GED Testing Service recognizes as fully aligned with the GED test.
