GED Scoring

The four GED modules are scored on a 100 – 200 scale, and on each separate subtest, you need to attain at least a 145 score. Averaging is not possible, so you’ll have to reach this score on EACH of the four tests.

  • 145-164: this range indicates high school equivalency
  • 165-174: this means you are college-ready
  • 175-200: this is the best possible scoring range, indicating your college readiness, and you’ll additionally receive up to ten college credits!

Online GED Testing

In earlier times, there was no online option to take the GED exam. If you wanted to acquire your GED diploma, you were required to show up at an official GED test center to pass the four GED subtests.

In most states, this changed with the introduction of online proctored GED testing options. Florida, however, suspended the online version of the GED test. Go to this page: online proctored GED exam to learn more about the online GED testing process.

You can perhaps sit for the online GED test in a state without any residency requirements. Then, you first need to achieve passing results on the GED Ready official practice test.

You must pass four GED Ready tests (one per separate GED subtest), totaling four of these practice tests. You can purchase the GED Ready tests for $7.99 each on the GED.com website.

Onsego students with an Advantage Plan won’t have to buy the GED Ready tests. Their Advantage Plans include four GED Ready vouchers at no cost, a $32 bonus!
