STC also offers a Continuing Education program that allows students to earn a GED and earn certifications in high-demand fields such as welding, EKG, phlebotomy, and more. Participants must have government-issued IDs, be Texas residents for at least 1 year, and achieve a sufficient score on a placement test.

The Independent GED Subtests

The GED test measures basic knowledge at a level comparable to that of graduating high school seniors.

The computer-based GED has four subtests that measure knowledge in the following subjects:

• Math
• Social Studies
• Science
• English Language Arts

These modules may be written individually and in any order. There’s no need to take the entire GED battery at once.

The Online Proctored GED Test

In the past, the GED exam had to be taken in person at one of Texas’s state-designated HSE (high school equivalency) testing facilities. There was just no online GED testing option. But this has come to an end as we saw the launch of an online proctored GED testing option.
