The GED exam can be taken online or at one of Texas’ official test centers. The exam gives persons who didn’t graduate high school one more shot at obtaining an equivalent diploma.

The four GED® tests measure proficiency at levels that are comparable to that of graduating HS seniors.

The GED is entirely computerized and is given in English and Spanish.

The GED includes four individual tests that assess proficiency in these academic subject fields:

  • Social Studies
  • Science
  • Mathematics
  • English Language

You can sit for these subtests one at a time. There’s no requirement to take it all in one session.

Online GED testing was, until recently, not possible. You had to show up at one of Texas’ official testing centers.

This has now changed, however, with the arrival of the online proctored GED test. Learn more below.

The Online GED Test

In the past, the GED exam needed to be done in person at one of Texas’ state-designated HSE (high school equivalency) test centers. Online testing simply was no option. This has changed now, however, with the launch of the online proctored GED exam.

You can find more information about the new online proctored GED test here -> Introducing the online GED test.
