You can take one of the four GED subtests at a time and in the order you prefer. There’s no need to complete everything in one testing session.

Your Future

The GED (General Education Development) test is for adults who never finished high school. It gives them one more possibility to obtain a diploma that is regarded as the equivalent of a standard high school credential.

Go to GED.com for details, and register at MyGED to create your own account and to be guided through all the processes to get your GED diploma so you can get a decent job or further your education.

GED Passing Score

You need a minimum score of 145 on all four tests of the GED exam to pass. The tests are scored on a scale that goes from 100 to 200. There are four GED scoring ranges:

  • Below passing score: 100-144
  • High school equivalency score: 145-164
  • College-ready score: 165-174
  • College-ready + college credit score: 175-200

Online GED Testing

In the past, online GED testing was not an option. To earn your GED diploma, you were required to report in person to one of Utah’s official GED test centers.

That changed a few years back with the introduction of the online proctored GED test. To learn more, visit this page: ‘The online proctored GED test.’

You can only write the GED exam online if you have achieved passing scores (‘green’ results) on the official practice test GED Ready.

For each of the four GED subtests, there’s a corresponding GED Ready practice test, available for $7.99. So that’s another $32 in addition to your total Utah testing expenses.

Free GED Ready Test Vouchers

Students learning for their GED exam with an Advantage Plan from Onsego won’t need to buy the GED Ready tests since their plans already include four free GED Ready vouchers, a great $32 savings!

Advantage Plans are already offered for only 79, and this option includes, besides more free extras, the four GED Ready test vouchers as well.
