This page includes an overview of HiSET (formerly GED®) prep class sites in the LaPlace area.
Louisiana uses the HiSET exam for the purpose of High School Equivalency (HSE) testing.
HSE testing is for adults without a high school diploma and gives them the chance to acquire an equivalent degree.
The HiSET includes five subject tests in the academic sectors of Math, Language Reading, Language Writing, Science, and Social Studies.
The tests can be taken on paper or on a computer and can be dealt with separately.
Online HiSET or GED testing is no option. The tests are not offered over the internet.
Should we add a HiSET prep site? Are perhaps some updates required? Please don’t hesitate to inform us. If you click on this link, you’ll come to our contact page.

For who is the GED (HiSET) exam?
The High School Equivalency program is developed to help people without high school diploma improve their competencies and give them the chance to get into college. In the United States, you can find millions of individuals who haven’t got a high school diploma.
The certificate that you obtain after completing the Louisiana HiSET exam is recognized and accepted as equivalent to a high school diploma by business employers, government institutions, and colleges and universities across the United States. Check out also this post that has links to all GED programs in America. Go to the page HiSET testing requirements in Louisiana to find out if you are eligible for the program.
The GED test
After more than 7 decades, Louisiana replaced the GED with the HiSET exam and this must be a strange idea for all those adults who for generations have never seen anything else to earn their GED credential (probably still the best alternative to a common high school degree). The GED test has for all those years been more or less the sole alternative to a high school degree all over the country, and even internationally the program was popular. But now, after a few years of HiSET testing for the state’s high school equivalency test, people will have gotten used to it.
