The GED Exam
The GED exam measures essential study subjects that students learn in high school, and subject areas covered in GED preparation classes consist of reading, writing, math, science, and social studies, the four testing subject fields.
The GED has combined the former language sections, writing and reading, into one Language Arts part.
The GED passing score on each subtest is 145 out of 200 points. Averaging is not possible; you must score 145 or higher on each subtest.
The diploma or certificate is recognized and approved by universities and colleges, employers, and government institutions throughout the US.
The GED provides the knowledge and skills people will need for any kind of work in the modern-day job market and to successfully pursue studies at college or university.
The GED passing standards are set in a way that 40% of high school graduates would not pass on the first try.
Online GED Testing
To get your Arizona GED diploma, you were required to appear in person at one of Arizona’s official GED testing centers, but with the advent of online GED testing a few years back, that changed.
The online version of the GED test is exactly the same as the in-person version. More details are found here: The online proctored GED exam.
You only qualify for online GED testing after you have reached passing results (‘green’ scores) on the GED Ready practice test. That applies to each GED module, so you’ll need to pass four GED Ready tests.
The GED Ready tests are available on GED.com for $7.99 each, adding $32 to your total New Mexico testing cost.
Free GED Ready Tests
Students with an Onsego Advantage Plan don’t have to buy any GED Ready practice tests. Their plan already includes four free GED Ready test vouchers.
Onsego Advantage Plans are actually quite affordable. They start at $79, which includes, among many other extras, the four free GED Ready vouchers as well, a great $32 bonus!
