Is there an online GED exam?

No. You cannot take the four GED subtests via the internet. You must come to an official GED testing site to sit for the four tests, but you have the liberty to take each test at the time you are ready for it. You can very well prepare online for the examination, but the actual tests are NOT available online, and websites that claim otherwise are a scam!

Online learning is perfectly okay, and you are welcome to take a closer look at this website’s totally free online GED instruction program.

The GED exam

GED Testing Service, the owner of the GED program, is a cooperation of ACE (The American Council on Education) and the leading assessment firm Pearson. The company has nationwide introduced a new model of the GED exam a few years ago.

This was the most significant modification the GED ever went through in its more than seven decades of existence and the GED exam is aligned with Common Core curricula that are adopted by practically all states to improve college and career readiness.

GED price tag

The exam has entirely shifted from paper-based testing to a computer-formatted model, the number of tests has been reduced to four, and the price tag of the GED exam was raised to $128 for all tests, so $32 per individual test. There is no need to take all the tests at once. You can sit for one subtest, and pay for just that one test, whenever you feel well prepared. Your test scores will be valid for two years from the time of your first registration.

The four GED tests

The four testing subjects of the GED exam are literacy, math, science, and social studies. The organization’s website,, will inform you perfectly well on the new exam, and you need to register at MyGED to schedule your examinations and discover a guiding path through all processes.

Here you also can find a great deal of information on institutions of higher education and their courses and programs, as well as useful career tips and job market developments.

About Key West

Key West (population 25,000) is the southernmost city in the continental U.S. and is situated closer to Cuba than to Miami. The town offers great architectural and cultural diversity, and historical beauty and climate are stunning.

Key West has many palm-lined streets was home to some famous people such as Ernest Hemingway and Jimmy Buffett, who found inspiration for its Cuban and Bahamian heritage.

Key West offers quite a few historic attractions that are easily reached without using your car. You can visit the centuries-old Spanish galleon “Nuestra Señora de Atocha”, or check out Hemingway’s Key West house which is a national literary landmark and a fine museum.

Key West is a great place for outdoor activities, including diving, fishing, and more water sports, and offers great golf courses. It is a sightseeing and shopping paradise and you really should be at the sunset celebration that is held each evening at the city’s Mallory Square. Numerous jugglers, tightrope dancers, and so on give their performances when the sun sets into the beautiful Gulf of Mexico.

Important cultural sites are the African Burial Ground (1860) on Key West’s Atlantic Ocean shore, located close to a fort from the Civil War-era, and some say this is the only African refugee cemetery in America. Also interesting is the island’s Historic Seaport District, a very popular place for water sports arrangements.

Key West has some very interesting museums that paint a pretty good picture of the city and the region’s past and play a key role in the education of its residents. You can check out the Key West Museum of Art & History, Ernest Hemingway’s Home & Museum, or the Mel Fisher Maritime Museum just to mention a few.
