This article lists all HiSET and GED prep class locations and testing centers in the Joplin area. In Missouri, you must pass the HiSET or GED exam to earn your HSE (high school equivalency) diploma.

You can take the GED® and HiSET® exams online and at state-approved testing centers.

The exams are for persons who did not graduate from high school. This way, they can acquire an equivalent degree.

The GED comes with four modular, independent subtests that measure knowledge in the academic subject areas of

• Mathematics
• English Language Arts
• Social Studies
• Science

The HiSET includes five subtests in the academic areas of Math, Language writing, Language reading, Social Studies, and Science.

The GED exam is fully computer-based, while the HiSET subtests are available both on a computer and on paper and can be taken separately as well.

Online HiSET or GED testing was, until recently, no option. You had to come to a state-designated testing site and sit for the exam in person.

Introducing Online Proctored GED and HiSET Testing

Taking the GED or HiSET exam online was, until recently, not possible. But things have changed. Both the GED and HiSET exams are now also offered in an online format. You need to have a good, reliable Internet connection, and an online proctor will check whether you do everything in line with regulations. For information on the online GED test, check here.
