- Social Studies
On the GED test, the Reading and Writing sections have been combined into one “Reasoning through Language Arts” subtest.

In West Virginia, the exams are only available at state-designated testing facilities. Online testing is NOT offered in the state.

HiSET Passing Score
The HiSET exam requires you to score between 8 and 20 points on each of the five HiSET subtests. Your overall score must be at least 45, and your essay score must be no less than 2 out of a possible 6.
So, the passing score on each of the five subtests is 8. Averaging is not possible, so that score is minimally required on each of the five HiSET subtests.
GED Passing Score
Your GED results are calibrated on a scoring scale that runs from 100 to 200. On each of the four GED modules, you must reach at least 145 points. Scores in the 145-164 range indicate high school equivalency. Scores in the 165-174 range indicate college readiness. Scores in the 175-200 range are college-ready PLUS credit results,
