First, go to the official website of GED Testing Service®, GED.com, and click the “Sign Up” button.
Then, you’ll be prompted to enter a current email address and a password. You must use your email address and password each time you want to access your GED.com account.
Online GED Classes
A simple and easy way of getting your GED diploma.
Once you’ve decided on your password, you can go forward by clicking the button that says “Sign Up.”
Enter Your Personal Data
When you have clicked the “Sign Up” button, you will see a screen saying “Ready To Test.” Here, you have to enter your name exactly as it shows on your government-issued identification.
Then, you can enter your date of birth and mailing address. Your transcript will be sent to this address. Next, after you have read the website’s Privacy Policy, hit the accept the terms button and click “Continue.”
You’ll then be asked to enter your primary phone number, and you can also enter a secondary number. After you’ve entered your phone number, click on the arrow next to “Type,” and indicate if or not the number you entered is a mobile number.
If you want to receive emails about GED news, which states offer free GED testing, and special offers, you can confirm that by ticking the box. Then, click “Continue” to go on to the next page. If you want to edit any information you entered previously, click the “Back” button. If not, continue.
If you already have a GED.com account but forgot your GED password, learn all about resetting your password in the linked post.
What if you have a Job?
Next, you’ll be taken to a screen that lists companies. If you are employed by any of those companies, click the company’s name followed by the button “Continue.”
If you’re not working for any of the listed companies, click “I work for a different company” or “I am currently not employed.” These last two options can be found on the dropdown list when you click “Select One.” Then, click “Continue.”
Keep in mind that if you have a GED diploma, you may expect to earn at least $9700 more a year than if you don’t. Quite a difference, right?
Next, you’ll see a screen with the state you entered when submitting your address. If you want to take the GED exam in this state, leave it as it is. If you want to take the exam in a state other than yours, click on your preferred state.
Then, you’ll be asked to answer the question, “Are you enrolled in high school currently?” and click “Continue.” If you want to read more about how to register for the actual GED test, go to the linked page and learn all about it.
GED Accommodations
On the GED exam, candidates with documented disabilities have the option to take the exam with accommodations. To apply for accommodation, click the “Yes” button; if not, click on the “No” button and click the button “Continue.”
Students who require accommodations should apply in a timely manner. GED Testing Service needs to verify the request and will need several weeks to do so. You can also contact your school district for help.
If you answer “No” to the question on accommodations, you will be taken to the GED Dashboard, the home screen of the GED.com website. At that point, you have the opportunity to start scheduling your tests if you click the button “Schedule Test.”
