This article lists all GED® prep locations and testing sites in the Harrisonburg area. Virginia uses the GED exam for its High School Equivalency (HSE) testing program.
GED testing is available online and at state-certified Virginia GED testing facilities.
The GED Program is developed for individuals who never completed their high school education.
The GED is made up of four separate modules in the subject areas of Literacy, Math, Science, and Social Studies.
You don’t have to complete the four GED subtests (modules) in one take.
The GED test assesses knowledge at a level that’s comparable to that of graduating HS seniors.
It used to be that taking the GED test online was not possible. Testing needed to be done exclusively at official Virginia GED testing centers.
This has now changed, however, with the launch of a new online GED testing option. Learn more about this development at the bottom of this page.

Your future
The latest edition of the GED exam is much more than just a set of four tests. Go to the organization’s website GED.com and you will be able to access the online portal MyGED. Here you can register, find great study help, schedule your tests, check your scores, and learn everything about job trends and developments, and colleges and universities.
MyGED offers you a start-to-finish tool to learn everything about the GED program. The GED exam reflects what businesses, employers, and universities and colleges expect of applicants. The GED diploma is equivalent to a standard HS degree and accepted as such by practically all North American employers and institutions of higher learning.
The GED program is for adult learners who never succeeded in completing their high school education and offers them one more chance to earn a credential that is all across America recognized as equivalent to a regular high school diploma.
Launching online proctored GED testing
In the past, you didn’t have the possibility to sit for the GED test online. If you were looking to secure a Virginia GED credential, you always were required to present yourself in-person at an official Virginia GED test center.
But now, this all has changed with the introduction of an interesting new online option to deal with the four GED modules, the online proctored GED test. If you qualify, you can sit for the GED exam online from the comfort of your own home. An online proctor monitors your activities and checks if you do everything in accordance with some pretty strict rules and regulations. To learn more about this new development, go to Introducing an online GED testing option.
