It doesn’t matter when you left school.
The GED program is developed for individuals who never completed their high school education.
The exam is made up of four separate modules in the subject areas of
- English Language Arts
- Mathematics
- Science
- Social Studies
You don’t have to complete the four GED subtests (modules) in one take.
The GED test assesses knowledge at a level that’s comparable to that of graduating high school seniors.
Online GED Classes
A simple and easy way of getting your GED diploma.
It used to be that taking the GED test online was not possible. Testing needed to be done exclusively at official Virginia GED testing centers.
This has now changed, however, with the launch of the online GED testing option. Learn more about this development at the bottom of this page.

Launching Online Proctored GED Testing
In the past, you didn’t have the possibility to sit for the GED test online. If you were looking to secure a Virginia GED credential, you always were required to present yourself in person at an official Virginia GED test center.
But now, this all has changed with the introduction of an interesting new online option to deal with the four GED modules, the online proctored GED test. If you qualify, you can sit for the GED exam online from the comfort of your own home.
An online proctor monitors your activities and checks if you do everything in accordance with some pretty strict rules and regulations. To learn more about this new development, go to Introducing the online GED exam.
