GED Online Test Introduced

It used to be that the GED exam could only be taken in person at an official Texas high school equivalency (HSE) test facility. Online HSE testing simply was not possible. But recently, we witnessed the launch of online proctored testing for the GED exam.

For more information on the recently introduced online proctored GED test, visit Introducing the online proctored GED test.

GED Price

With the GED test, you can pay as you go, meaning you pay for each GED subject individually when you’re ready to take a subtest. The Texas fee is $36.25 per individual subtest, or $145 total when taken at a Texas test center. Online GED testing costs $42.25 per module, or $169 overall.

Registration

Registration is a simple process. You’ll have to create an account for MyGED at the website www.GED.com. Here, you’ll also get information on local policies, scheduling your tests, how to request accommodations, making payments, and so on.

Scheduling can be done 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Just log in and click on “Schedule Test.” When you’ve completed the questions, you can choose a testing location, your preferred language, which subject test you want to take, and the date and time you prefer. You have the option to schedule one test at a time.

You can take each subject test 3 times without any waiting time restrictions. After your third attempt, however, there’ll be a 60-day wait period before you can retest that subject again.
