What’s on the GED Exam

The GED test comes with four modules (independent subtests) that measure proficiency in these subjects:

  • Science
  • Math
  • English Language
  • Social Studies

You have the option to take one (or more) of the four GED subtests at a time and you decide in which order.

Testing occurs at a level similar to what high school seniors are supposed to know upon graduation.

Across North America, the GED credential is recognized and accepted in the same way as a high school diploma by educational institutions and employers.

The Online GED Test

In earlier days, it had never been possible to sit for the GED exam over the Internet. To earn your HSE (high school equivalency) credential, your personal appearance at an official HSE testing center was required.

In most states, however, we’ve seen the launch of an online GED testing option, so that has changed. More information can be found in this post: ‘Introducing the online proctored GED test.’

Before you qualify for online GED testing, you are first required to reach passing scores on the GED Ready, and this counts for all four GED subtests. So, that’s four GED Ready tests.

The GED Ready practice tests cost $7.99 each on GED.com, but Onsego’s students with an Advantage Plan don’t need to buy four ot these tests. Their plans already include four GED Ready vouchers, a fine $32 value bonus!

Are updates or adjustments needed? Do we have to include or remove a location? Please inform us here.
