Passing the GED tests has become a little less difficult as the passing standard was adjusted downward in early 2016 from 150 to 145 points. More details are to be found on this GED news post. The four GED tests can be taken separately, there is no need to take everything in one row, and scores are counting for two years
The four tests
The subtests are in the fields of Science, Social Studies, Mathematics, and Literacy. The former testing subject of Writing now is woven through the other tests via more essay-style answering than before. The four GED subtests must be taken on computer at an official state-designated GED testing site. Online testing is NOT possible.

To be able to take the GED exam in Texas, you need to be a Texas resident, not already possess a secondary education degree, and be 18 or older. For 16/17-year-old applicants, there are options too, but they must meet specific restrictions, so contact a GED prep location or testing center. You additionally can not be signed up for another school program.
The latest edition of the GED exam was introduced in January 2014 and has a new scores range that goes from 100 to 200, and to earn a Texas GED Certificate (High School Equivalency diploma), you needed to attain at least 150 points on each test. That now has changed to 145, so no less than 580 in total).
Preparation in key
The new version of the GED exam is more rigorous than the former edition, and preparation is now more important than ever before. Probably the best option is to sign up with one of the above-listed courses, but for individuals living in remote portions of Texas, and also for those who are very busy, online courses can be a great alternative. GED study books are available at most community libraries and local bookstores. A fantastic source of information is also offered at the GED website GED.com, and this website also offers online GED classes at no cost.
*) Bryan Adult Learning Center (BALC) presents one of the most impressive adult education programs in the Region VI ESC area, which includes 15 counties. The Adult Learning Center offers group instruction, individual tutoring, as well as computer-assisted education in basic literacy, ABE (Adult Basic Education), ESL (English as a Second Language) classes, and GED (General Education Development) prep classes for adult learners in the Brazos Valley area who are at least 17 years old, who don’t possess a high school diploma, and want to be working toward earning their HSE (high school equivalency certificate = GED diploma).
The school works with small GED classes (max 25 students), and all applicants must go through an orientation and registration session. The school offers morning, afternoon and night classes at the ALC campus (1700 Palasota Drive). If you want more information, you can contact the Bryan Adult Learning Center at 979-209-7040.
