Posted here are all GED (HiSET in Maine) classes and testing facilities in the Bangor area. Maine uses the HiSET exam for its high school equivalency testing program.

The HiSET exam can be taken at certified testing facilities and online in many states but not in Maine. Maine doesn’t offer the HiSET Exam online.

The exam offers adults without a high school diploma the chance to get a hold of an equivalent credential.

The HiSET®, in the same way as the GED®, measures knowledge at a level comparable to what high school students must command upon graduation.

There are five HiSET subtests assessing a candidate’s knowledge of these subject fields:

• English Reading
• English Writing
• Math
• Science
• Social Studies

There was no online HiSET test-taking option. Students needed to come to an official HiSET test center, but now, with the introduction of an online HiSET testing option, that has changed in many states but not in Maine. Read more below about online HiSET testing.

All over America, the HiSET diploma is recognized as the equivalency of a high school diploma.

Introducing the HiSET Online Test

Until recently, HiSET testing via the Internet was not an option. If you wanted to earn your high school equivalency degree, your personal appearance at one of Maine’s state-approved testing sites was a requirement, and this is still the case in Maine. In many states, however, that is no longer required, thanks to an online, proctored option to sit for the HiSET exam.

So now, in many states, you can take the online HiSET-Exam-At-Home option, where an online proctor oversees the entire process and checks if you do everything according to strict regulations. To learn more about this online testing option, check out this post: ‘Online HiSET Test Introduced.’
