GED Classes Tucson, Arizona

This post lists all GED preparatory classes and testing facilities in the Tucson region. Arizona uses the computer-formatted GED exam for the state’s High School Equivalency testing.

You can now take the GED test online as well. To qualify, you need to score “green” on the GED Ready® official practice test. Read more below.

The GED® exam measures academic proficiency at a level that’s similar to that of HS students after four years of education.

The assessment exam comes with four independent tests on these subjects: literacy, math, science, and social studies.

The GED is modular, meaning you can take the four subtests (modules) individually.

In Arizona, GED hopefuls are additionally required to take and pass the Arizona Civic Test.

GED applicants don’t need to worry about the state cutting funds for adult education at Hope for You Lutheran Church in Rio Rico and First Baptist Church in Nogales. Hope for You Lutheran Church in Rio Rico started providing free GED prep classes in 2009 when the church obtained GED books. There was a great need for this kind of education, according to Art Seaman, an elder and retired junior high school teacher.

It wasn’t long before First Baptist Church joined the effort and brought in a few skilled volunteers. This adult education program is a combined operation of the churches and is done without any funds from the government. The churches offer GED classes on Monday and Wednesday from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Students of all ages and walks of life come here to get ready for the GED exam, but there are relatively many women aged 35 and up.

Introducing The Online GED Test

It is now also possible to sit for the GED test in an online format. Until recently, test-takers had to appear, in person, at an official Arizona GED test center to be able to earn their Arizona GED credentials, but now, that has changed.

The GED test is now also offered in an online, proctored format. An online proctor will monitor the test-taking process and see if all goes according to the rules and regulations. Want more information? Go to this page -> Introducing the online proctored GED test.
